The condition monitoring and fault diagnosis have been identified as the key to achieving higher availabilities of wind turbines. Numerous studies show that open-circuit is a significant contributor failures turbine converter. However, multiple faults combinations influence speed changes abruptly, grid voltage sags noise interference brought great challenges diagnosis. Accordingly, concerning converters in direct-driven PMSG turbine, diagnostic method for proposed this paper, which divided into two tasks: first one detection second localization. based on relative current residuals after exponential transformation an adaptive threshold, localization average values phase currents. scheduled available both generator-side converter grid-side converter, allowing detect locate single double faults. For validating this, robustness test are presented 2-MW system, results validate reliability effectiveness method.
